I don't really get the totems either. I understand that you need one to show you if you're dreaming or not, but apparently it doesn't have to be something you yourself made, just something that only you know through and through. Is that about right? But if you were locked in a dream that you believed to be reality, wouldn't your subconscious mind fill in the gaps, and make the totem look like it should in reality?
